Preface

Welcome to this splendid new issue of Jewish Fiction .net! In Issue 8 you will find 14 terrific works of fiction originally written in Ladino, Spanish, French, Hebrew, and English, by authors originating from Iran, Argentina, Romania, the Ottoman Empire, Israel, Canada, and the United States. With Rosh Hashana just around the corner – the time we read the Akeda (Binding of Isaac) story – we have in this issue two stories on this theme: “Bound” and “The Binding” (the latter with a twist ending!). A third story is set in the special days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (“Rafael and Miriam”).

In this issue we also bring you a sneak preview of Elie Wiesel’s new novel (“Hostage”), and 10 other wonderful stories.

Enjoy these outstanding stories! In our new About The Authors page, read about the authors who wrote them. Feel free to share the stories you like with friends, family, colleagues, and book clubs, and to mention Jewish Fiction .net on Goodreads, twitter and facebook. Most of all, we wish you the joy of leisurely holiday reading, and a relaxing and pleasurable rest-of-summer.
